Who is Jean Mensa in Ghana?
Jean Adukwei Mensa is a Ghanaian lawyer by profession and the current Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana.
As the Chief Returning Officer, Madam Jean Mensa declared the then presidential candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of the NPP as the validly president-elect of the December 7th, 2020 Presidential Election.
Before her assumption of office as the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana in 2018, Mrs. Mensa worked at the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) from 2000 to 2018 (served for 18 years)

Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana Chairperson
On August 1st, 2018, Madam Jean Adukwei Mensa was sworn in as the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana by the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Even though a Ghanaian citizen by name, Fafali Nyonatorto wanted the swearing-in ceremony of Jean Mensa to be halted as she (Fafali) had gone to court to challenge the removal of the former EC chairperson Madam Charlotte Osei, President Akufo-Addo still went ahead with the whole process, claiming that the removal of Charlotte Osei from office was done with no malice.
On June 28th, 2018, President Akufo-Addo dismissed the former Chairperson of the EC, Madam Charlotte Osei and her two deputies, Amadu Sulley and Georgina Opoku Amankwa, from office upon the recommendation of a committee set up by the then Chief Justice, Justice Sophia Akufo, for procurement breaches and in some cases financial malfeasance.
Before she joined the IEA in 2000, Madam Jean Mensa as a lawyer worked at the Amarkai Amarteifio Chambers from 1995 to 1997, and BJ Da Rocha Chambers as a Junior Lawyer (1998).
As a leader in policy research and advocacy for two decades, Madam Jean Mensa has been involved in the development of policies such as the Presidential Transition Act of 2012, the Revised 1992 Constitution of Ghana (draft), the Political Parties Funding Bill, and the Revised Political Parties Bill.

Well, a section of the Ghanaian public, especially members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), describe Madam Jean Adukwei Mensa as a Slay Queen due to, what they claim as, her constant trimming of her eyebrows (taking them off with blades and drawing them back with pencils), heavy make-up, and the wearing of fake “Brazilian hair”.
Many of them are of the firm opinion, that a woman of her stature who occupies such an important position as the chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana mustn’t necessarily be seen to be competing with well-known certified Ghanaian Slay Queens such as Hajia Bintu, Akuapem Poloo, Moesha Boduong, Efia Odo, Yaa Jackson, and the like.
Yes, all ugly women must look artificially beautiful with the application of these useless heavy make-up, the trimmings, fake eye lashes, fake Brazilian hair and all that but not Jean Adukwei Mensa!
Sometimes, one wonders why upon all the natural beauty Jean Mensa’s God has endowed her with, she would still go to the extent of undertaking such frivolous adventures.
