Former Zimbabwe President, Robert Mugabe dies at age 95
Former president of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe has sadly passed on in a hospital in Singapore where he had been receiving medical treatment for months, BieGyaNation.Com can confirm.
The current president of Zimbabwe, His Excellency Emmerson Mnangagwa has announced the news of the demise of Mr. Mugabe, regarded as an icon of liberation.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa confirmed the sad news earlier this morning Friday, September 6, 2019.
He said:
It is with utmost sadness that I announce the passing on of Zimbabwe’s founding father and former President, Comrade Robert Mugabe. Comrade Mugabe was an icon of liberation, a pan-Africanist who dedicated his life to the emancipation and empowerment of his people. His contribution to the history of our nation and continent will never be forgotten. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
Mugage was born on February 21, 1924 into a Catholic family at Kutama Mission northwest of Harare.
He was arrested and jailed 10 years in 1964 after he had taught in Ghana as a teacher and returned to Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe.
Mugabe who had greatly been influenced by the philosophies of the late President Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah of Ghana, came to power in 1980.
Robert Mugabe who ruled Zimbabwe for 37 years was forced to step down in November 2017 by the Zimbabwean National Army after massive nationwide protests.
His resignation sparked jubilations across the nation as it marked the dawn of a new era.
His vice, Emmerson Mnangagwa who he (Mugabe) had fired earlier on November 6th was later sworn in as the new president of Zimbabwe.
